2008. FEM, “Festival Edición Madrid de Nuevos Creadores” (New Creators Madrid Edition Festival). Responsible for the curatorial project, video installation, image design and music videos selection.

As part of the program, some allied international producers presented their latest low-budget video clips creations. The event included live music performances by acclaimed bands such as ADULT, Antártika, Ciëlo, Femme Fatale, Hidrogenesse, Khan, Líneas Albiés, Silvania y Stereo Total.

XIII. Potipoti A/W 12-13 Collection

FASHION FILM /// Direction, edition, production and art direction

2012. Potipoti’s A/W 12-13 Collection.

Responsible for the direction, edition, and art direction for the promotional video presenting ‘XIII’ autumn/winter collection by the Spanish-German fashion label Potipoti.

The video, produced with the support of the Spanish Embassy in Germany, presents a collection inspired by number 13, generally considered to be unlucky, and includes music from Ex Models, a project by the musician and producer Hugo Capablanca.

VUÉLVETE UNDERGROUND. Ciëlo

MUSIC VIDEO /// Direction, edition and art direction

2007. Ciëlo. Responsible for the direction, edition, production and art direction of Ciëlo’s video clip “Vuélvete Underground”.

The tune became a hit in Spain’s independent scene, giving name to a series of parties celebrated in Madrid under the denomination V.U, “Vuélvete Underground”, and organized by MDBuró. The video was filmed during the celebration of one of these underground parties attended by Mario and Cocó, Ciëlo’s two members. “Vast as you are, Madrid can always take you beyond”…

S.E.P. Parties

2010. S.E.P -Sozialistiche Einhez Party- in Berlin. In charge of the art direction, graphic design, hosting, music programming, audiovisual and multimedia creation for this series of parties organized by the german electronic music record label Alkomerz.

This series of themed parties have been taking place in different night clubs in Berlin with the participation of various artists and musicians. Each party developed a specific creative concept through music, video creation and nightlife.

Private electronic events commissioned by 908 video Berlin, consisting in concerts and visuals housed in their facilities, with audience attending only by invitation.

V.U. PARTIES (2006-08). Part II

2006-2008. In charge of art direction, graphic design, hosting, music programming and audiovisual production for V. U. Parties.

This series of themed parties have been taking place in different night clubs in Madrid with the participation of international artists, musicians and other cultural rabble-rousers. Each party focused on a particular theme and developed a specific creative concept through music, video creation, performance, nightlife and great fun. All this under the motto: “dress code optional, attitude compulsory”.

TOTAL STRESS BERLIN. Party

February 2008. ‘Total Stress’ Party at Maria am Ostbahnhof Club in Berlin. Responsible for the art direction, graphic design, audiovisual and multimedia creation as well as the background research for this party.

This music event took place in one of the most important clubs in Berlin independent scene during the 2000s. Live music and DJs accompanied with a wide array of visual settings consisting of projected images on the massive walls of this now closed-down legendary club.

2009. Illustration for New Year’s greeting card.

This image evokes Lord Tennyson’s post romantic poem of Ulysses and Suicide’s 1977 song ‘Keep Your Dreams’. These two milestones, while distant in time, share a common sensitivity in their messages fused together in this illustration with the aim of wishing its addressees a New Year full of freedom, courage and a clear inspiration.

LIVE VISUALS /// Festivals, clubs, concert venues

Responsible for the design of visuals and settings for different music events, audiovisual performances, life-visuals, video jockeying and video installations.

The M.D. video jockey work material has been travelling throughout the main independent clubs in Madrid and several international music festivals for more than five years now. Among them, the Festival Internacional de Benicàssim (FIB), Experimentaclub and Klubbers Day in Madrid, Territorios Festival in Seville, as well as touring with groups such as Jeans Team in venues all over Europe.

LOVERS ROCK. Potipoti S/S 2011 Collection

2011. Potipoti’s ‘Lovers Rock’ S/S 2011 Collection. In charge of the direction, edition, production and art direction for the promotional video presenting ‘Lovers Rock’ spring/summer collection by the Spanish-German fashion label Potipoti.

As the result of the collaboration between MDBuró and Potipoti, the project aims to promote this Berlin-based Spanish designers label that tries to bridge the gap between graphic design, art and fashion. The video includes music by anti, a leading Spanish electronic pop musician.

This brand specializes in vintage designer items inspired by old Socialist imagery.

Alkomerz 2011. Berlin. Direction, production and art direction for the video clip-flash mob “Bomberjäeckchen” by the electronic music German duo, Jeans Team.

This viral video was recorded in the streets of Berlin during the winter of 2011. Participants spontaneously assembled after an open call via Internet, radio and other social networks. During several hours, people walked along the busiest streets in Berlin wearing only Bomber jackets.

Silly Europeans is a kaleidoscopic project by Machines Désirantes Buró. A place without a defined space for playing nomads in real time. A first, almost random movement adopted the form of a radio program. The waves spread freely and pervade the environment with vague and silly sounds and visions. Staggering through a dead and arrogant continent, provoking an empty mocking face. You! Silly European, enjoy yourself!

2009. Audiovisual performance for Experimentaclub Festival.

This audiovisual performance was produced for the international experimental music festival Experimentaclub’09 and consisted on live studio image mixing with CC video of the performing artists and their interaction with the festival audience. Both the concept and the acting were developed combining two experimental music sessions which took place during two different days within the festival duration.

Illustration, slogan and emblem on found photo inspired by Virgil’s popular quote “Love conquers all”. This fanzine, published by John Hughes High School, has a limited circulation and specializes on do-it-yourself suggestions and teenagers’ trends.

TOTES KINO. Jeans Team

2010. Berlin. Direction, script, production and art direction for the music video ‘Totes Kino’ by the German music band Jeans Team.

This video is the result of the prolific collaboration between MDBuró and the German electronic music label Alkomerz. The video was shot in Stattbad, an old 50’s pool facilities transformed into a contemporary culture centre. The setting reproduces an early 1900s bistro where two lovers are ready to enjoy the magic of a cinema which “is already dead…”

Audio-fan-zine. Capsule shaped usb drive filled with 9 hours of sounds. Limited edition of 200 copies. Edited with the support of Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, Madrid. Summer 2012.

Silly Waves is an audio-fanzine which consists of a compilation of radio shows from different underground radio stations, music, sound art pieces, dj sessions and some unclassifiable experiments.

Fast Gallery. Exhibition happenings. Collaborating since 2008. Madrid. Projects included the design of the corporate identity, posters, typography and illustrations.

As one of the founder members of this group, I actively participated in the concept creation and image design of each of these projects. Fast Gallery is dedicated to facilitate collective artistic experiences and explore new exhibition formats by using multi-disciplinary and convergent techniques.

2003. Ciëlo. Madrid. Responsible for the co-direction and production of “Cielo No Futuro” (Cielo No Future) video clip. Live performance for Spanish TV iconic music program “Los Conciertos de Radio 3” documented by Jose Salas.

As a part of NO, a graphic design studio founded along with designer Miguel Velacoracho (2001-2005), this project represented Jose Salas’s first collaboration with this music duo.

ENTRE DESTELLO Y DESTELLO. Ciëlo

2008. Ciëlo. Madrid. Direction and edition for Ciëlo video clip entitled “Entre destello y destello”. This band could be considered the finest expression of the most lyrical electronic pop, since Silvania, their previous musical project, set an outstanding precedent in European electronic music production during the 90’s.

This video was intended to pay tribute to one of its members after he passed away. It was edited compiling different materials. “Finally, take me away; take me by your side at last. I shall enter the empty space among sparks”

ECO 1 Festival

March 2012. “Encuentro de Nuevos Sonidos” (‘New Sounds’ Meeting’). Eco 1 Electronic Music Festival. In charge of corporate identity, logo, posters and hand programmes design.

This 3-day indoor festival gathered, in the cultural facilities of Matadero in Madrid, a significant number of the foremost studios and recording labels in industry. This event included activities such as seminars and presentations of new labels accompanied by a rich music programme with more than thirty new projects.

SOME WHERE IN HERE… New Papers

ILLUSTRATION + TEXT /// Tabloid double page spread photo-illustration plus text

2010. Illustrated poster and text for New_Papers #3 “Máquina del Tiempo” (‘Time machine’).

Responsible for the illustration, photography and text for New_Papers, a themed collective free publication on illustrations and photography. In its third issue, the selected theme was the idea of the time machine. The illustration created aims to be a remembrance of Vertigo, the film by Alfred Hitchcock. The caption under the image retells MD project history in a very personal way.

SOMBRAS EN MI CORAZÓN. LINCE

2012. Lince’s Music Video. Berlin. Found footage video. Innovative technique used with the occasion of this video production for the musician LINCE.

The images used in this work were extracted from “The Endless Summer” by Bruce Brown, a classic 60’s documentary film, resulting in a free and sensitive approach to the issue of a young electronic and ambient music creator.
